Words From the Middle

At the intersection of Sacred and Profane

2021/04/02

What’s so good about it?

Is there any day, at least on the initial look, less well named than Good Friday? If there is, I can’t think of it off the top of my head.

This is the first time I have been in a position to lead a Good Friday service in many years. I am very glad I was able to. The churches have traditionally included the sacrament of Holy Communion with a Good Friday service and what with the Lectionary readings encompassing more than three thousand words the sermon is rather shorter than some times.

I am deeply indebted to Rev. Nadia Bolz-Weber for providing me some structure and thoughts for this sermon. I urge you to check out her work both online and in print.

As always, I am interested in what you think of what I have to say about what I have to say 🙂
