Words From the Middle

At the intersection of Sacred and Profane

Not really weak

Some weeks, the moment I read the Lectionary texts I know exactly where we need to go on Sunday. Some weeks it is a bit more of a search. This week was one of the latter.

It wasn’t that I had no idea where to go but rather, I had an idea that wouldn’t come together the way I wanted it to, nor as quickly as I wanted it to. I was playing the two ideas of forgiveness and weakness off against each other and I kept coming back to the question “What is weak?” When I couldn’t make it work I went with a sermon title of “Weakness and . . .” and ended up with two sermons more dissimilar than usual. I’m not here to tell you what to do but you might consider listening to both of them and letting me know if they are as different as they felt.

“Weakness and . . .” Knox Presbyterian (to download, right-click and select “Save Link As . . .”)

“Weakness and . . .” St. Mark’s Presbyterian (to download, right-click and select “Save Link As . . .”)

Blessings,
