Perseverance. Much like patience, you can tell it is a virtue rather than a vice because it is so hard to do.
The book of Hebrews has a lot of good things for us. We looked at faith last week and this week we are looking at something that comes from faith. One of the things I was trying to point out in the sermons was how faith is one of the components of perseverance. There are others including hope, a sense of calling, a desire for an outcome, and more I’m sure I just didn’t think of.
So why do we persevere anyway? If there is one thing our culture has told us it is, avoid hard work whenever possible. Why continue with things that are hard, that don’t have a clear line to success, that are uncertain? I don’t have any easy answers but I try to at least point you in some useful directions. Let me know if I didn’t manage it.
