Words From the Middle

At the intersection of Sacred and Profane

2017/09/03

If you were wondering

This week in Romans (Rom 12:9-21 to be exact) we are dealing with a hodge podge of things to do. I consulted some other resources to see if I was missing some subtle connection and realized that the connection is found in Romans 12:1-2 and can be summed up, more or less, as, we demonstrate our love for God by serving him and loving and serving our fellow human beings.

Today’s part of Romans lays out a bunch of things we can do to that give evidence of our love for God. Or to put it another way, here is Paul reminding us of a number of things we already know in a nice package.

There is no shortage of advice these days. You can get it from the traditional sources, namely your friends, family and co-workers, or, you can get it from complete strangers on the internet. When you are looking for advice about what you should do as a follower of Jesus Christ, I’d recommend seeing what the Bible says . . . and that’s what we did today.

Good message. As I have mentioned to you before, I need these reminders. Sometimes often.
    Cheers
