Words From the Middle

At the intersection of Sacred and Profane

2021/09/05

Doing what you are called to do = no favouritism

Favouritism is one of those things many people find maddening . . . including me!

I am well aware of my own privilege and do my best to not take advantage of it so when I see other people flagrantly favourited for no good reason I am never happy about it. Neither was James, the writer of the book of James, in the New Testament.

He begins the second chapter of James specifically calling out favouritism as something no one who calls themself a follower of Jesus should consider doing. He goes on to say what we say we believe, and for that matter what we really believe, doesn’t matter if our beliefs don’t turn into action.

I am curious to here what you think of either, or both, of the sermons.

Blessings,
