Words From the Middle

At the intersection of Sacred and Profane

2022/06/26

Are we really trees?

Of course, we aren’t really trees. If nothing else we all move around too much. (If you are thinking of reminding me about Ents, go right ahead.)

I decided to use the metaphor of a tree because if there is one thing a tree does, without thinking about it, it is growing. The trees we aren’t really being are fruit trees; so by now, I’m sure you will know the general direction of this week’s sermons.

In his letter to the Galatians, Paul talks about the fruit of the spirit. The fruit of the Spirit is a different thing than the gifts of the Spirit and is one of the things we talk about in the sermons. Give them a listen and let me know what you think.
