Yokes

I don’t know if I have ever been this late in putting up a blog post but there is a first time for everything I suppose. The past week was unusually busy with doctors, “procedures” and scamper camp on top of the usual work and life. Not that I’m making excuses, this is just the kind of thing that happens to all of us at one time or another.

So, what is a “yoke” anyway? A yoke is a device that makes it easier to do work . . . but so what? Well the passage of Scripture we looked at talks about a “yoke” and how it can be easy. Give them a listen and let me know if I described them a little better there 🙂

I don’t know what it is like wherever you are but we are finally getting some summer and I hope you are enjoying whatever weather you are being blessed with.

Be well,

    A gift

I have never met a person who hates gifts. I have met a lot of people who don’t always like all the stuff around gift giving–the expectations, disappointments, forced gratitude–but the idea of “gift” is okay. We often don’t know what to do with gifts and that’s even more likely when we don’t see a…

    More than law

Today was Heritage Sunday in the Presbyterian Church in Canada. I don’t always “do” anything with Sundays outside of the Liturgical year but this one had an interesting tie-in with the Gospel lesson for today. I don’t know if anyone else sees it, but I saw a connection between the Law that Jesus addresses in…

    Service

The notion of “service” is one that is very difficult for our culture to resonate with. It could be that we keep hearing about the “service industry” and it is one we disdain. It could be the generalized irritation we have with “service calls” that will be done sometime between 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM…
