We have much to be thankful for . . . don’t we?

Today is Thanksgiving Sunday, so it is generally considered a good thing to preach about Thanksgiving. It might even be a tradition, and while I have been known to ignore the so-called secular calendar events, this is one I feel we can spend some time with.
I like Thanksgiving. I like that we celebrate it when our prairie farmers are finishing up the harvest. I like being reminded to be thankful . . . okay, I don’t “like” it, but I’m grateful for the reminder because I forget so often. The “don’t we?” at the end of the sermon title became less of the sermon than it might have been. I was talking to my travel mate on the way, and I said I might be preaching a sermon telling folks to stop whining. As I was saying it, I realized that would be wildly inappropriate for St. Mark’s Presbyterian. So instead, I preached a sermon about being thankful. And I’m grateful I did.
As always, let me know what you think as you’re inclined and able.
Blessings,
