The greatest thing

My apologies for being a day late with this week’s post. The sermon may sound a little different as it was delivered from a hotel as the weather rendered travel too untrustworthy for me to risk travelling to Grenfell. In retrospect I may have been able to make it safely but age brings a certain amount of caution. I also tender my apologies for not being able to lead worship in person at Trinity Presbyterian.
It is sometimes said “love makes the world go round.” Maybe it does? It is too bad that something as powerful as all that isn’t easier.
This Sunday we are spending some time with what is probably St. Paul’s most familiar passage, namely 1 Corinthians 13, sometimes referred to as the “Love Chapter.” That’s a good name for it too because Paul talks about what love is and what love isn’t in a compelling and engaging way. The middle part of the chapter where Paul says, “4 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7 New Living Translation) Is often read at weddings and you can easily see why.
Blessings,
