Easter Sunday! The best day of the year! Better even than Christmas or my birthday or . . . well any other day.
It isn’t like I get presents on Easter Sunday, well sometimes I get tasty things to eat which is very nice, but it is just as good a day if I don’t. You may be asking why, let me tell you.
In a nutshell, Easter Sunday is the best day of the year because without it, no other day can be very good at all. It is the reality of the Risen Christ that creates meaning in every other day there is. Without a Risen Christ my birthday is just another day; Christmas is just another day; every day is just another day. It is in the reality that God became fully human and fully divine; then came and dwelt among us to demonstrate the possibility of living in relationship with God. Who’s life, death, and resurrection demonstrated the limits to which God will go to reach us and identified us as having ultimate value. Without these things, a day is just one more day.
