Words From the Middle

At the intersection of Sacred and Profane

Spiritual gifts never get old

I like this week’s blog post title because for me, at least, spiritual gifts never do get old. I can think about them and talk about them a lot but there are always new things to consider; new aspects to ponder.

This Sunday’s sermons are more of a reminder than anything else. A reminder of three salient facts about spiritual gifts.

  1. We all have spiritual gifts
  2. It is okay that we might not know exactly what gift(s) are ours so go ahead and experiment with them; play with them even
  3. It is only through the exercise of all of our gifts that the church can be truly whole

For anyone who has sat under my preaching for a year or more, either in person or via recordings, you have heard variations on this theme and these three points already. However, I think I was able to come at some new stuff this time around so I hope you find value and encouragement about your own spiritual gifts here.

As always please feel free to let me know what you think about either or both of these sermons.

Blessings,

PS Next week will be the last time I preach, as far as I know, in August as I will be taking some time off to go to the lovely city of Vancouver with some of my family to see some other parts of my family. Just a heads up in case you need one.
