Now or later

We are more than halfway through Lent and I don’t know about you or anyone else but I think I’m getting ready for it to be over. My Lent hasn’t been the worst ever but there are some parts I have found quite difficult.
Yesterday, Saturday, March 10, 2024, I took part in the funeral of a very dear friend. Leslie was one of those people who brings out the best in others simply by being. There has been a shortage of people like her in the world for some time and now the shortage is even bigger. I wish I could say I was able to turn my grief into an unusually excellent sermon on loss today but the Lectionary texts directed me to grace instead . . . the Holy Spirit is like that. I needed to hear more about grace than almost anything else and I hope it was good for the people who were there or joined us online. I also hope it is good for you.
