Here we are at the last Sunday of Advent; the Sunday/week of Love.
I have been going back and forth on how much of myself of “me” I put into these blog posts [which is not news to any of you of course :-)] and I have, at least this time, come down on the side of full disclosure/honesty . . . no matter how it might come across. I am very much at a loss about why I am currently not preaching as “well” at Knox as I am at St. Mark’s. The most significant reason I have for not putting this kind of thing on to pixels is that I don’t knowand can never know what the Holy Spirit does with my feeble words. There have been times, if not beyond measure at least a lot of them, when I have thought the sermon I preached was awful – with absolutely no sense of “awe” involved – and yet that self-same sermon has been tremendously meaningful to people . . . what is up with that? Other than to demonstrate to me unequivocally that the Holy Spirit will do what s/he will.
This week is like that. I would very much appreciate any feedback about either or both sermons, if you have the patience.
A very merry Christmas to one and all,
Barry
