Laws and wisdom and stars . . . oh my

I don’t often try to relate all the Lectionary texts to each other. I’m not opposed to it, I simply don’t think it is necessary to do so. I don’t have a really “good” reason for why I linked them together this Sunday . . . other than the strong sense this is what I should be doing. When the Holy Spirit communicates with me it is usually something like this, a strong feeling rather than a command. I am sure the Holy Spirit can command me if needed but I’m glad she hasn’t seen the need.

The texts all help us see ways we can think about God and ourselves, especially in the arena of what makes sense and what doesn’t, what is wise and what is foolish. I’ll give you a hint about the sermon, much of what we and our culture think is wise is foolish in the eyes of God.

As always, give the sermon a listen and let me know what you think as you are able and inclined.
