This week the Lectionary sent me into a consideration of blessings. Blessings, we all want them; we all enjoy providing them. What can anyone really say about blessings? Well, I think there are a couple of things we need to keep in mind about blessings. Depending on which sermon you listen to the first, one thing is to be bold to bless and the second is to be patient when waiting for God’s blessing.

The content is very similar between the two messages but the order is reversed. I don’t think I have ever done this before so if you are able or inclined I would be very interested to hear what you think.

Be well,

Barry

    Sheep and shepherds

It is one of those Sundays where the Lectionary “makes” us talk about sheep and shepherds. I quite enjoy “sheep and shepherd Sundays.” They provide an opportunity to talk about how silly sheep are and tell some funny (I hope) stories about sheep. More importantly, this Sunday is an opportunity to talk about how appropriate…

    Peaceful?

Peace seems to be something everyone is in favour of, as long as the other party makes whatever changes need to be made. At the moment, the world is not a very peaceful place. There are more armed conflicts in more places than any of us can keep up with. Political and civil discourse is…
