Thankfulness

Today is Thanksgiving Sunday, at least in Canada, so it probably won’t come as much of a surprise to hear I preach on thankfulness. I will admit when I chose the sermon title, “Thankfulness” I was rather bereft of actual ideas about what I might say. But, the Spirit came through for all of us as she so often does.
The sermon revolves around thankfulness, generosity, and the non-transactional nature of God’s relationship with us. When I look at it in a sentence it seems a bit of a mish-mash but I think it came together pretty well.
The sermon is short-ish for a couple of reasons. The first is the unreasonable number of technical difficulties I had at the beginning of the service, i.e., we started late. The second is Holy Communion. St. Mark’s has celebrated communion on Thanksgiving Sunday for a very long time, even in light of the previous Sunday being World Communion Sunday. 😊 I wanted to be sensitive to the responsibilities people have beyond attending a service on Sunday and I did not want to feel rushed in the communion portion of the service. All was well in the end.
As always, please let me know what you think of the sermon (good, bad, or meh) as you are inclined and able.
I have an additional question, would anyone want to view the video of the sermon instead of only audio. Let me know in the comments.
