Parts to play

Last Sunday we talked about spiritual gifts and what they might be and which gifts we might have and why.
This Sunday we are going into more depth about the why of spiritual gifts. In one sense it is very simple, we are all given spiritual gifts to build up the community of faith. We begin exercising our gifts in the smallest community we are part of, usually a congregation, and then go out from there. Sometimes this gets tricky when we don’t understand where our gifts fit or even what they are. We may begin to think we don’t have any gifts and if we do they aren’t needed. Nothing could be further from the truth and St. Paul devotes the second half of 1 Corinthians 12 to addressing this very issue. And, since the epistle lesson for this Sunday was the second half of 1 Corinthians 12, we addressed it to.
As always, let me know what you think as you are inclined and able.
