Well, well, well. This Liturgical year is over. I am as tired as I might have been if I actually worked all year ☺ (please let me know if the symbol just to the right of “year” is not a smiling face, thanks).

As I mention in at least one of the sermons, sorry I haven’t listened to them yet, I don’t think there could be a better Sunday to end the year on than the Reign of Christ. I just wish that would have made preaching easier. I don’t know if it is because I preached yesterday at my first Presbytery meeting, i.e. that was the first Presbytery meeting I had ever attended and I led worship at it, including preaching; but I felt like I was walking (homiletically speaking) through molasses. I am grateful to a Gracious God that the Holy Spirit seemed to have “stepped in” and covered my shortcomings.

This might be a good time to remind myself and everyone that it is the Holy Spirit who takes what I prepare and tailors it to each listener; and that includes anyone listening to the MP3s (heh, I almost called them podcasts but I don’t think they qualify).

Thank you for taking the time to consider listening to these sermons. I am in awe of how the Holy Spirit takes the feeble offerings of this doubly-feeble preacher and turns them into what God’s people need so frequently.

I am looking forward to Advent and preaching on hope and joy and all the rest. May this Advent season be one of renewal to all.

Blessings,

Barry

PS I am very much of two minds when it comes to uploading yesterday’s Presbytery message. It is quite short, less than 10 minutes, but if I don’t get any suggestions that I should in fact upload it I probably won’t.
