Words From the Middle

At the intersection of Sacred and Profane

2020/05/10

What are we looking for and where are we going?

Two of the most common questions we have at significant points of our lives are “what are we looking for?” and “where are we going?”

Most of the time we don’t ask these questions because already know the answers. But there are times when we really need to know. If we need to know because we are on vacation in a new city (remember those things? vacations?) then there is an easy answer, a map. A map can be a really helpful thing but what if you have questions? Maps, don’t answer questions very well. What is even better than a map is a navigator.

These questions might not seem like they relate to this Sunday’s Lectionary texts but I think they connect quite well with our reading from John. Let me know what you think.
