The sermon title today is “1 + 1 + 1 = 1 Wait! What?” and is, needless to say, about the Trinity.
The Lectionary makes sure that we don’t skip over the Trinity just because it is a potentially difficult doctrine (and it is!). Every year, just like clock work we have Pentecost and then Trinity. I, for one, am glad we are “forced” to address it every year. There are lots of things that when we figure them out they are settled. Basic arithmetic like two plus two equaling four doesn’t get much discussion because there isn’t much to discuss.* However, things like how to be a good citizen or what does love mean or, well, the Trinity are anything but settled. We can find endless things to discover about these things. This Sunday’s sermons are about one of the aspects of of the Trinity that is more and more on my horizon these days, the essentially relational nature of God.

St. Mark’s Presbyterian 1 + 1 + 1 = 1 Wait! What?
I hope you find something of value or at least a new way to look at God through these sermons.
Blessings,
* yes I know that quantum physics or string theory or one of those might have something to add to that but I don’t know enough about any of those and I don’t know anyone who does.
