Words From the Middle

At the intersection of Sacred and Profane

2015/12/27 By Barry Leave a Comment

Hey! It fits!

Christmas 1 There is something almost universal in the experience of getting a gift, Christmas or otherwise, that doesn’t fit. Sometimes the lack of fit is physical, such as when the giver forgets that you are no longer 12 but are actually 15 and quite a lot larger than you were. Sometimes the problem of fit is wrapped up (see what I did there) in what you do or do not like, you might get a book by an author you loath and will never read. The sting of the ill-fitting gift passes with time and frequently transforms into a story that becomes part of the family or circle of friends lore.

But good story possibilities notwithstanding, we all prefer gifts that fit. This Sunday’s sermons are about gifts that fit; that fit all of us.

I hope all of your gifts fit and were exactly what you wanted.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
