Words From the Middle

At the intersection of Sacred and Profane

2022/11/06

Don’t worry

Today is Remembrance Sunday. I know it is quite a few days before November 11 but I think it is important to have the Sunday devoted to Remembrance Day before the actual day rather than after.

The sermon isn’t as specific to Remembrance Day as some I have preached but there are still some tie-ins, at least I think so, let me know if you feel otherwise.

What I am trying to do is look at some texts which have been interpreted eschatologically over the years to see what else might be there of interest and value. What I found was an exhortation to courage and an implied “Don’t worry.” Let me know what you think.

There is only one sermon this week due to weather conditions. I am sure it has happened before but this was the first time I checked the highway and literally every highway out of Regina was closed, not just the one I use to get to Briercrest and then Moose Jaw.

Also, the sermon begins a bit oddly as I, for the first time ever, started preaching with my Zoom mike muted. Just one of those events we all get now and then 😀
