But what do we do?

How often do you find yourself asking what you should do? Maybe never but probably at least now and then. I don’t know about you but I am most likely to ask the question “What should I/we do?” when I am faced with a situation that seems to demand I do something. I read about genocide in the Middle East, rising fascism, wars, rumours of wars, and on and on it goes . . . but what do I do?

This Sunday’s Gospel text puts the question first and foremost for me. Jesus tells his followers that no one knows when he is coming back but before he does a lot of unpleasant things are going to happen. I don’t know if any of them asked “but what do we do?” in response but I do.

When I read about Jesus predicting his return but not until a bunch of vague things have happened or until the days are accomplished or whatever I ask but What. Do. I. Do. What do I do with the information I now have? Well, I have a sermon that might help you a bit with it, it helps me.

By the way, there are some sounds, clicks and the like, which I couldn’t get out of the recording so if you hear them, there is nothing wrong with your system or your ears.

As always, let me know what you think as you are inclined and able.

    Sheep and shepherds

It is one of those Sundays where the Lectionary “makes” us talk about sheep and shepherds. I quite enjoy “sheep and shepherd Sundays.” They provide an opportunity to talk about how silly sheep are and tell some funny (I hope) stories about sheep. More importantly, this Sunday is an opportunity to talk about how appropriate…
