Being strong or being strengthened

Is there a difference between being strong and being strengthened? They connect in a significant way, they both deal with strength but do they deal with it in the same way? The short answer is no. The long answer is my sermon which I am not going to transcribe here☺

Being strong is a thing you have or have accomplished; you could even say it is a finished thing. You set out to become strong and you have so there you are . . . strong. Being strengthened is a much more dynamic phrase. It is also more open-ended. If being strong is a state of being then perhaps being strengthened is a state of becoming? That last sentence isn’t perfect but I think you know what I mean.

I cover a few different things in the sermon and I’ll let you find those as you are so inclined but one thing I do talk about that I want to mention here is this finally explains how Paul can “boast in his weakness.”

As always, I would love to hear from you as you are inclined and able.
