Are there women in the Bible?

Just to reassure you I am well aware we do not have Mothering Sunday in Canada . . . but we should. Not only is it easier to spell, “Where does the apostrophe go?!” it doesn’t leave out anyone.
As I mention in the sermon, I have an ambivalent relationship with non-Liturgical Sundays, e.g. Mothers’ Day, Fathers’ Day, etc. I was talking this over with some of the people who help me with, well everything, as they are wiser than I am and out of the conversation came a decision to preach about women today, not forgetting mothers. I actually use some statistics in this sermon, which is rare for me. The bit about the number of named women in the Bible is here (Named women in the Bible) and the men whose names begin with “A” is here (Men with A names).
So why bring up how many names there are for men and women and non-binary folks for that matter? Because names matter. Names mean someone has noticed. Not using a name can be an other-ing or dismissive tactic. The sermon goes beyond names and hopefully will help you think about women in the Bible, and everywhere, a bit differently.
This Sunday was our first Sunday in our new space. I think you will notice some difference in the sound quality (much lower ceiling and closer walls) which I think is better. Let me know about the sermon and/or the sound quality as you are inclined and able.
Blessings,
