It’s the first Sunday in Lent, not these Sundays are in Lent, not of Lent. It doesn’t seem to make a huge difference but if Lent is forty days long and you count all the calendar days between Ash Wednesday and Easter Sunday you get more than forty. The Sundays aren’t counted so the math works but rather to help us remember even in the middle of a time of voluntary deprivation, such as Lent, Sundays are still what they always are.
The sermon title this Sunday is “Let’s talk about Lent!” because Lent is worth talking about every year. It comes up every year but it seems most years (every year?) there is something new to learn.
This year is no different and I am grateful to the Rev. Dr. Scott Sharman for a new insight into the Genesis reading for this Sunday. Give the sermon a listen and let me know if this is new to you too?
Blessings,
